Sharing Assets
An Asset begins its life in a single Solution; for instance, you may create an
Asset from an HMI or in the Solution Editor or install a code-based Asset from
the command line using inctl asset install.
After testing your Asset in that initial Solution, you may want to share it between Solutions or users. For example, to:
- use your new Asset in one of your other Solutions;
- get early feedback about the Asset from a colleague;
- provide the Asset to an end customer;
- enable all Flowstate users to find and use your Asset.
To enable these journeys, we currently provide two workflows for sharing Assets:
- Installing an Asset from another Solution to which you have access. Installing from another Solution is useful when you have created an Asset in one Solution and just need access to it in another.
- Releasing an Asset to the Asset Catalog. The catalog is a powerful tool for distributing reusable, long-lived, version-controlled Assets to colleagues, partners, and customers.
